Dry Mixes

The Co-op carries a number of dry mixes in our bulk room that are both convenient and healthy.
If you don’t see a dry mix in stock, we’ll be happy to special order it for you.

Original Hummus

1. Place 1 cup mix in bowl. Add 1 1/2 cups warm water* and 2 Tbsp. olive oil.
Stir until well blended (wire whisk works best).
2. Let stand 5 minutes. Serve with pita bread wedges, chips, or vegetable spears, or use as a sandwich spread.
* for creamier texture, add additional 2 Tbsp water.

Ingredients: garbanzo beans, sesame tahini, sea salt, dehydrated garlic, olive oil, spices, citric acid, dehydrated lemons, toasted sesame oil.

Falafel

For 4-6 patties:
1. In a heat-resistant bowl, mix 1 cup Falafel mix with 3/4 cup boiling water. Stil well.
2. Let mixture stand for 10 to 15 minutes until it has cooled and become stiff.
3. Form into small, thick patties, about 1/2″ thick and 1 1/2″ diameter.
4. Pan fry on medium heat in non-stick pan (butter or vegetable oil optional.)

For authentic fried ball-type falafel, shape into balls about 1″ diameter and fry in 1 1/2″ oil until golden and crispy.

Nature’s Burger

For 3 3-inch patties:
1. In a heat-resistant bowl, mix 3/4 cup Nature’s Burger with 3/4 cup boiling water. Stil well.
2. Let mixture stand for 10 to 15 minutes until it has cooled and become stiff.
3. Form into thin patties, about 1/2″ thick and 3″ diameter.
4. Pan fry on medium heat in non-stick pan (butter or vegetable oil optional.)
5. If desired, melt a slice of cheese on top.
6. Serve on a bun with your favorite condiments and garnishes such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, relish, ketchup or mustard.

Ingredients: brown rice, dehydrated vegetables (yellow peas, green peas, onions, potatoes, garlic, tomatoes, celery, carrots, red bell peppers), barley, wheat, gluten flour, oats, sesame seeds, textured soy flour, soy sauce powder (wheat, soybeans, salt), dried yeast, salt, expeller pressed canola oil, yeast extract, spices, paprika.

Vegetarian Chili

Note: requires two 15-oz cans of kidney beans and one 14.5-oz of diced tomatoes.
1. In large pot, bring 2 1/2 cups water to a boil. Add 1 1/4 cups Vegetarian Chili Mix, stir well.
2. Add 2 cans kidney beans (drained and rinsed) and 1 can diced tomatoes (undrained).
3. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Serve.

Ingredients: textured soy protein, dehydrated vegetables (tomatoes, onion, garlic, celery), corn meal, barley flakes, spices, sea salt, brown rice syrup powder, soy sauce powder (wheat, soybeans, salt), yeast extract, vinegar powder, natural flavors, citric acid.
